---The last name of Louisa Steffy has not been proven, even though there is an Ancestry Legend that it may have been Phillippi. Mary Kegley in EARLY ADVENTURERS ON THE WESTERN WATERS (Vol. 5) states: "Henry's wife was Louisa(Levicey, Louise, Levice) but her maiden name is not known." Louisa was found on a deed record with Henry in 1807 and Levicey on a deed record in 1819. She is shown in the 1820 census and is not shown in a deed signed by Henry in 1829, so she died between 1820 and 1829. Henry and Louisa had at least 9 children: Elizabeth Wampler, John (married Elizabeth Killinger), Catharine Pickle, Mary Fox, Henry B. (married Christina Staley), Christine B. Buck, Peter (married Mary Killinger), Joseph (married Elizabeth Phillippee)& Abraham (married Lucretia Kettering).
----It is likely that Louisa was buried in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery where her daughter, Christina, and husband (John Christian Buck) are buried.
---Note from MY STEFFY FAMILY CONNECTIONS: "After the death of his wife (between 1820 and 1829) and sale of his land (1829), he rode horseback in 1832 at the age of eighty-four to Knox County, Indiana. In the 1830s Henry Wetzel, a Lutheran minister wrote from Rural Retreat, Virginia, "Our friends are nearly all selling off, and some have sold, among them some old people, and intend to move west." He lived in Knox County with his family until his death on August 22, 1838, according to his tombstone at Royal Oak Presbyterian Church Cemetery. His tombstone has 'In Memory of Henry Steffy.' The " Western Sun and General Adviser" had this obituary on September 1, 1838: "Died--On Thursday the 23rd of August, 1838, at his residence in this county. Mr. Henry Steffy, aged 90,recently from Virginia. Mr. Steffy was one of the noblest works of God, 'an honest man.'"
