Rufus Dempsey was in WWII which caused him partial hearing lost. He was married to Beatrice Thompson in 1946. They had three children together (Claudia, Joan, and Rufus, Jr.)Rufus also had three other children, Mamie Doris, Carolyn, and Robert. He is the step-father to Glorious.
He has many grandchildren in New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Maryland.
