She was born in Forsyth County to Charlie Lee and Carrie Lee Harrison Bennett.
Myrtle had been employed by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. at Brook Cove and retired after 20 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fount Bennett, in 1995.
Surviving is four daughters: Dorothy (Wayne) Nance, Darlene (David) Nelson, Barbara (William) Collins, and Vertie Hill; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and four sisters: Bertie Jarrell, Mary King, Sylvia (David) Brown, and Loni Wilson.
She was a member of Quaker Gap Baptist Church where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, with the Rev. Jack Darida and the Rev. Bill Greenwood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening, Feb. 6, at Slate Funeral Home in King.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stokes County Senior Services, P.O. Box 29, Danbury, NC 27016.
