Henry Brinkman was born on June 16, 1846 in Berlin, Germany. He came to America in 1870 and settled at Preston Jackson Co.,Iowa. Three years later he was married to Dora Kollalso of Preston. In the year of 1880 they moved to Dennison, Iowa, where they lived until 1902 when they came to South Dakota and resided on a farm southwest of Canistota. In 1914 Mr. and Mrs. Brinkman retired from farm work and moved to their home at Canistota at which place he resided until his death.
To this union thirteen children were born, five having died in infancy and William who died at the age of 41 years in 1919.
The deceased leaves to mourn his loss the bereaved wife and the following children; John Brinkman, Chinook, Mont,; Henry Brinkman, Danzig, N.D.; Anna McGinnis, Canistota, S.D.; Fred Brinkman, Chinook Mont.; Minnie Root, Leith, N.D.; Herman Brinkman, Canistota, S.D.; A. E. Brinkman, Leith, N.D.; also 44 grandchildren and 15 great granchildren.
