Occupation: Kenyon Mills [Woolen], village of Kenyon, RI.
Eldest son, Abial, was in business with his father Lewis until his father's death in February 1839. Abial and brother, Elijah, introduced carding and spinning machinery at the old mill. In 1844 a new mill was built near the old structure. Elijah operated the Laurel Glen Mill, Stonington, CT for 5 years with younger brother Charles. Abial operated the Kenyon Mill until 1856, when Elijah bought out his interest. In 1862 a general store was built for the employees of the mill and in 1866 a cotton mill was erected. Elijah sold his interest in the Laurel Glen Mill to brother Charles in 1863. In 1863 Elijah was admitted into partnership with Charles B. Coon. The firm was dissolved in 1881 at which time Mr. Kenyon's son, John S. Kenyon, succeeded Mr. Coon, and the Mill name was changed to "E. Kenyon & Son."

The family's servant, Jessie M. Stevens, B: 23 June 1863 D: 16 March 1916, buried with the Kenyon family. She served the family as their servant for more than 40 years.
