Zana J. Rhodes, 71, of Salem, died Saturday morning, August 22, 1998 at her home. She was the wife of the late Emory L. Rhodes and carried newspapers to patient rooms at Lewis Gale Hospital for 23 years. She was also preceded in death by her son, Danny L. Rhodes, Sr. Survivors include a daughter, Linda A. Rhodes, Salem; brothers, Glen Johnson and wife Phyllis, Salem, Odis Johnson and wife, Mary Ellen, Mississippi; sister, Cletis Chittum, Bedford, Mary Duncan, Salem, Norma Bowles and husband, Kenneth Roanoke; brothers-in-law, John Rhodes, Salem, Walter Rhodes and wife, Ida, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Thelma Brown and husband, Vernon, Salem; grandchildren, Danny L. Rhodes, Jr., Hardy, Tammy Oaks and husband, Chip, Salem, Sheilia Clowser and husband, Chris, Salem, Melissa Miles and husband, Byron, Richmond, Joshua Rhodes, Salem; four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 1998 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ira Tolliver officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, August 24, 1998 at the funeral home.
