Memorial services for Elaine Schmid, 59, of Norfolk will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 26, 2014 at Home for Funerals, Norfolk: Reverend Cindi Stewart will officiate.
Elaine and her husband Dave died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 as a result of a motor vehicle accident south of Pilger.
Elaine was born July 13, 1954 to Elmer and Adamae (Martin) Kotrous at Orchard, NE. She grew up in Verdigre and graduated from Verdigre High School in 1972. Elaine later attended Northeast Community College and Wayne State. She was married to Michael Hoferer in 1971 and Earl Wayne Bolich in 1973. In 1991 Elaine and Dave Schmid were married in Lincoln. They made their home in Norfolk. Elaine worked at Walmart for over 10 years and retired due to her health. On July 23rd of this year it would have been 10 years since Elaine received a heart transplant.
Elaine was extremely talented at crafts and for many years sold her crafts and used the money to buy Toys for Tots, Andrews Van Lines where Dave worked, would donate the use of a truck to haul them all.
Elaine is survived by her 4 children, Melinda and Ronnie Smith of Norfolk, Patrick and Tina Bolich of Sioux Falls, SD, Tonja Tiffany Hunter and her friend Adam Blank, of Lincoln, Bryan Bolich of Sioux Falls, SD, 2 stepsons, Cory Ditter and Dave Schmid Jr, both of Columbus, 10 Grandchildren 1 great-grandchild and 2 sisters, Bernice Cernousek and Joyce Shaffer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
