Catherine Norwood, born on January 22, 1823, in Biddeford, Maine, was the 13th of 15 children born to Abraham and Nancy Norwood. (The others were: Ann Norwood Sanders, b. 1804; Eliza Norwood Butterworth, b. 1805; Rev. Abraham Norwood, b. 1806; Abigail Norwood Tarbox, b. 1808; Susan Norwood, b. 1810; Jonathan Norwood, b. 1811; Mary Norwood, b. 1813; Elias Norwood, b. 1814; Augusta Norwood, b. 1816; Hester Norwood, b. 1817; Eleanor Norwood, b. 1819; Lucinda Norwood, b. 1821; Catherine Norwood, b. 1823; Albert Norwood, b. 1823; & Edwin Norwood, b. 1825).
Those children born before Catherine (including Lucinda, born June 21, 1821) were all born in Cape Ann, Gloucester, Essex County, Massachusetts. Catherine, born January 22, 1823, was their first child born in Biddeford, Maine, proving Abraham and Nancy settled on the banks of the Saco River in Biddeford after June, 1821 and before January, 1823.
Catherine only survived for less than one month, and with no death record to prove otherwise, the cold February weather may have been a possible factor attribiting to her early death.
Catherine is listed on the southwest side of the Norwood monument in the Oaks Cemetery on Pool Road in Biddeford along with Hester Norwood (1817-1873); Eleanor Norwood (1819-1838); Lucinda Norwood (1821-1889); Albert Norwood (1823-1888) and Edwin Norwood (1826-1826). No individual marker is known to exist, probably due to her young age when she died. All of Abraham and Nancy Norwood's remaining children are listed on other locations on the monument.
