The 1810 U.S. Federal Census for Gloucester list Abraham and Nancy Norwood and 4 females under 10 years of age (Ann, born 1804; Eliza, born 1805; Abigail, born 1808; and Susan, born 1810 and 1 male under 10 years old (Abraham Jr. born 1806).
The 1820 U.S. Federal Census for Gloucester list the 4 female girls listed in the 1810 census (each 10 years old or under) and 4 additional female girls under 10 years of age (Mary, born 1813; Augusta, born 1816; and Hester, born 1817 and 2 males under 10 years of age (Jonathan, born 1811, and Elias, born 1814.)
These two census reports leave little doubt that these children were all born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and not in Biddeford, Maine as indicated in several Ancestry.Com LifeStories.
Ann Norwood was married to Thomas Saunderson on December 14, 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts by the Rev. Edward Bunker.
Ann Norwood died of consumption on May 15, 1829 in Boston, Massachusetts after being married only 5 months. The Rev. Calvin Lane was the undertaker and was buried in the South Burial Grounds in Boston, according to several “Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988” documents and “Boston Internments and Deaths”.
Ann and Thomas had no children.
Ann Norwood’s name appears on the monument in The Oak’s Cemetery, Pool Road, Biddeford, Maine, which her father’s (Abraham Norwood) son (Albert Norwood), purchased along with the names of her father and mother and most of her siblings. This leads to some confusion as to where she was actually buried.
