Owen Adair Reed, 85, of the Athens Road, Princeton died Friday, May 6, 2011 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born March 15, 1926, at Clayton,, he was the son of the late Otis Clark Reed and Grace Ellen Fox Reed. Mr. Reed was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy, while serving he received the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal and Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He received his BA degree from Concord College in Athens. He retired from WV DHHR office in Princeton in 1988 as an Ecominic Service Worker. While his health permitted, he was active with the VFW Chapter, visiting and volunteering at the Beckley VA Hospital and supported many programs that benefited those in the hospital. Mr. Reed enjoyed gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Marilee Sloane Reed, along with four siblings; Lydia Plumley, Alvin Reed, Grover Reed and Jesse Reed.

Tuesday, May 10, 2011 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with the WV Honor Guard conducting graveside military services. Friends may visit with the family on 2:00 P.M. until the service hour.
