Obituary, Fulkerson Funeral Home (Plentywood, MT), 12 May 2014:

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. am at St. John's Lutheran Church of rural Westby on Friday, May 16, 2014. Dinner will follow the internment at the church.

Beatrice "Bea" was born as the fourth child to William and Henrietta Simonson on September 29, 1919 on the family farm west of Westby. Her siblings were Solveig, Mary, Violet, and Art. Her mother passed away when Bea was only four years old. William then married Henrietta's sister, Geharda "Gay", and the family became complete with five more brothers and sisters - Barney, Albert, Trudy, Thelma, and Bill. She was one of ten siblings delivered by Bina Brensdal certifying her as one of many "Bina Babies."

Bea attended Alcott Grade School, then Comertown High school graduating from Antelope High School in 1939. She remembered riding horseback to school, milking cows, churning butter, canning meat, and baking bread, and all those things done in the "good old days". She attended beauty college in Chinook, MT, and owned and operated a beauty shop in Medicine lake and Plentywood. In 1943 she ventured to Vancouver, WA, with high school classmate Karen Jorgensen to work as a secretary for government housing. Upon returning to Sheridan County after several years, Bea and Melvin Jorgensen were married at St. John's Lutheran church on November 21, 1948. Bea's father William was a bit unsure about another daughter marrying a "Happy Dane" from Dagmar.

Melvin and Bea made their farm north of Dagmar. For 47 years they raised grain, cattle, --chickens, sheep, a garden and three children - Sue, Rod & Tom. The farmlife suited Bea, and she carried on her previously mentioned childhood traditions. Neighbors were a valued part of her everyday tasks. Many stopped by for a daily cup of coffee & cookies and an occasional haircut.

Melvin and Bea thrived living on the farm, but they also enjoyed summer family outings travelling to Seattle, Yellowstone Park, the Black Hills, Canada, Florida, California, and Reno. Bea was baptized and confirmed at St John's Lutheran Church. She was a Sunday School teacher and superintendent for 20 years as well as an active lifelong member of the church. She had a close bond with that church family.

In 1995, Melvin and Bea moved to Plentywood. In 2006, LaCasa became their new residence where she peacefully passed away May 11, 2014.

Survivors include: three children - Sue Pulliam of Gillette, Wyoming, Rod (Vickie) Jorgensen of Reno, Nevada and Tom (Jandy) Jorgensen of Dagmar, Montana; six grandchildren - Robbin (Pete) Sisti, Shane (Erin) Pulliam, Tate, Bret, Troy, & Tanner Jorgensen; as well as eight great-grandchildren; two sisters - Trudy (Norman) Jensen and Mary Dahl and sister-in-law Marian Simonson as well as treasured nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and seven siblings.

"Auntie Bea" is fondly remembered by so many for simply being her: kind, fair, friendly, and giving unconditional love.
