John H. Brocker, 63, former clerk of Calumet county and secretary and treasurer of the National Farm Loan Association in this area, died at 4:15 p.m., Saturday at his home , 202 Brooklyn St Chilton after having been in ill health for the past four months.

Mr. Brocker had been identified with the National Farm Loan Association in this area for 20 years and through his work became widely acquainted in the district he served which included Sheboygan, Manitowoc, Fond du Lac, Calumet, Dodge and Green Lake Counties. He maintained his office at Fond du Lac. The association frequently accorded Mr. Brocker awards and special recognition for his outstanding service.

Mr. Brocker was a life-long resident of Calumet county. Born in the town of Chilton, Nov. 14, 1889, the son of Bernhard and Louisa Brocker, he attended the rural schools and as a young man learned the carpenter trade. He served in France during World War I and after completing his war service, returned to his home community where he was elected clerk of Calumet County which he held for a period of ten years.
His marriage to Mrs. Esther Bartz took place May 22, 1923 in the town of Brotherhood. The couple always made its home in Chilton.

A devout Christian man, Mr. Brocker was an active member of Ebenezer Evangelical and Reformed Church at Chilton. He served on its building committee for a recently completed program of extensive remodeling. His funeral will be the first in the newly-rebuilt edifice.
Other organizations with which Mr. Brocker was affiliated at Chilton and in which he held offices at various times were the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, G.U.G. Germania Lodge and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Besides his wife, Mr. Brocker is survived by three daughters, Mrs. L.E. (Florence) Schiewe, Port Clinton, Ohio; Mrs. Harvey D. (Elaine) Strassburger, Madison and Mrs. Richard E. (Betty) Schmahl, Potter: four grandchildren: a twin brother, Frank Brocker of Kiel and a sister, Mrs. Lena Pingel, route 4 Chilton. Two brothers and two sisters preceded Mr. Brocker in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer Evangelical and Reformed Church at Chilton. The body can be viewed at the Erbe-Hoffmann home until 11 a.m. Tuesday at which time it will be removed to the church.
