John L Busby, 89, Maryville Missouri, formerly of Parnell, Missouri, died Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Golden Living Healthcare in Maryville, Missouri.

John was born October 17, 1924 in Maryville, the son of John F and Gertrude (Lahr) Busby. After High School he joined the US Army serving during World War II. On October 4, 1947 John married Catherine Spire in Parnell.

A lifelong farmer, he was a member of St Joseph's Catholic Parish, and a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre and the Curry Richardson Sparks Waldeier American Legion Post # 528, all of Parnell. He was a former member and past president of the Nodaway County REC (Rural Electric Co-op)

John was preceded in death by his wife: Catherine on March 9, 2010; his parents; and a sister: Barbara Busby.

Survivors include his children: Larry (Debbie) Busby, Parnell; Earl (Terri) Busby, Kilgore, Texas; Richard (Cindy) Busby, Parnell, Kevin (Juanita) Busby, St Joseph, Missouri and Mary Jo (Mike) Barmann, Maryville; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and sisters: Mary Ann Carter, Jefferson City, Missouri and Ruth Busby, Maryville.

A Parish Rosary is 4 pm Sunday, May 11, 2014 at St Joseph Catholic Church, Parnell, Missouri
with visitation to follow from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Monday, May 12, 2014 at St Joseph Catholic Church with burial in St Joseph Cemetery, Parnell, Missouri,

Memorials may be made to St Joseph Parish, 411 South Main Street, Parnell, Missouri 64475.

Military Services will be conducted at graveside under the direction of the Missouri Military Honors Team and the Curry Richardson Sparks Waldeier American Legion Post # 528, Parnell.
