Mallen Dee "Zeke" Brock, 74, of Walnut Street, Bluefield, WV, passed away onTuesday, May 6, 2014 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Born on July 31, 1939 in Pioneer, LA, he was a son of the late William D. and Alice Inez Ragus Brock. While still living at home, he taught his younger sister to swim, to roller skate, to ride a bicycle, and about cars. He chased the bullies away with a slingshot who were bothering his younger brother. While in high school he worked as a ranchhand on a large farming and ranching operation in Southeast Arkansas and became proficient on a cutting horse. After highschool, he worked as a crewman on a tugboat. A violent storm hit his boat in the Gulf of Mexico and persuaded him to find other work. He had been a resident of Bluefield for 12 years and was of the Protestant faith. He was a veteran of the US army and spent 9 years serving and earned the rank of S/Sgt. He worked for Butterfield Golf Cart Inc. as a mechanic for over 20 years and was a wood craftsman. After he retired, he handcrafted many pretty items for family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn Berwick and brothers in law, Thomas (Budge) Shrewsbury and James Karl Shrewsbury.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell
with Minister Buddy Goins officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with family and friends serving as
pallbearers. Military honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veteran's Honor Guard.
