PANHANDLE - Charlie E. Meaker, 98, died on Friday, March 3, in Panhandle.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday at Panhandle First United Methodist Church with Rev. Les Hall officiating. Burial was in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
Mr. Meaker was a native of Brimfield, Ill. He came to Texas in 1910 and was a longtime resident of Panhandle. He married Ruby Crites in 1925 in Sayre, Okla.
He was a farmer, water well repairman and a driller.
Mr. Meaker was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby, in 1990; two daughters, Grace Bulla and Inez Dewalle, in 1999; and by three brothers.
Survivors include one son, Robert Meaker of Panhandle; two daughters, Betty Janssen of Brownsville and Hazel Janssen of Panhandle; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
