Robert Edward Meaker, age 83 of Thorndale, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple. He was born November 8, 1937 in Borger, Texas to Charles Edward and Ruby Wonita (Crites) Meaker. On November 25, 1961, he and Peggy Joyce Reading were married in Panhandle, Texas. He worked as a press man for several newspapers, including Brownsville, Victoria, Austin and Round Rock. They have lived in Thorndale the past 21 years. He is a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, the Texas Baptist Men and F.I.R.M. Baptist Area.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ruby Meaker; a son, Ron Edward Meaker and three sisters, Grace Bulla, Betty Janssen and Inez De Walle.
Surviving is his wife, Peggy Meaker of Thorndale; sons, Frank Meaker of Round Rock, Shawn Meaker of Round Rock and Todd Meaker and wife Michelle of Thorndale; a sister Hazel Janssen of Shamrock and seven grandchildren.
Memorial services for Robert will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Rockdale with Pastor Steven Ammons of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and Pastor Charles Cole of Harmony Baptist Church officiating.
