Company H, 3rd Indiana Cavalry∼Hopp was a private in Company H, 3rd Indiana Cavalry. The 3rd was mustered in Madison IN on August 22, 1861. Company H participated in the Battles of First Bull Run, Antietam, Frederickberg, Gettysburg, Five Forks and was present at the surrender, Appomattox Court House. The 3rd stood down on August 7, 1865. Hopp is buried with his wife, Harriet, who was an army nurse.
