Auguste Sophie Rothermund was originally buried on about August 14, 1880 in the "Redmen's Cemetery" located on the hillside east of the Center Wheeling section of Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia. Her grave, along with with the graves of her husband, Frederick Augustus Rothermund, and her daughter Auguste M. Rothermund, were removed on November 25, 1904 and reburied in "Greenwood Cemetery" Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia.
The Old "Redmen's Cemetery" is now WV State Route 2.
The inscription reads:

Born the 22 March 1828
In Polier Hannover (sic) (I think this is Hanover which is just north of Polier, Germany in Lower Saxony)
Died the 12 August 1880
God what pain
