According to her death certificate, Louise was the daughter of Frederick Rothermund and Auguste (Hagedorn) Rothermund. Frederick and Auguste were both born in Germany.

Louise married Charles H. Tappe (14 Jan 1850 - 10 Feb 1923) on 23 Apr 1876 in Ohio County, West Virginia.
