Funeral services will be held tomorrow for Melvin J Curtis, 76 of 2066 North F, who died Saturday in a local hospital. Mr. Curtis, who formerly was a farmer in Oklahoma, had been employed as a cannery worker here in later years. Mr. Curtis and his late wife Lula, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1962. Their descendants, numbering 10 children, 22 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren were known in this area for their frequent family reunions. Mr. Curtis was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church.
He is survived by five sons, James and Orville, both of Fremont; Odell of St. Louis, Mo.; Herman of Palo Alto, and Charles of Pleasanton; five daughters, Mrs. Inez Hightower and Mrs. Eula Pickel, both of Stockton; Mrs. Blain Simonich of Lodi; Mrs. Katherine Pyle in New Mexico, and Mrs. Patricia Carey of Pleasanton; five sisters, and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
