J.B. was born November 18, 1918 in Turkey, Texas. He was predeceased by his wife, Frances 'Sue' McCarley.
J.B. is survived by two daughters, Anndel Martin of Houston, Texas and Dara McCarley of Montgomery; and three sons: J.B. "'Jon' McCarley III of Montgomery, Scott McCarley of Baton Rouge, La., and James B. McCarley of Houston, Texas. Fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren all adored their Grandpa. In addition, he had his Wednesday lunch buddies, who brought him much joy and friendship.
J.B. was a retired U.S. Air Force officer and pilot. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Air Force Longevity Service Award with 4 Bronze Leaf Clusters. He was a founding member of the Iron Gate Chapter of the Air Force Association.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard Street, Walden, from 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday evening at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation and burial will be in the Old Dublin Cemetery, Dublin, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the J.B. and Frances B. 'Sue' McCarley Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Valley Central Credit Union, Walnut Street, Montgomery, NY 12549.
Arrangements were made by the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, Inc."
