Priesmeyer, Lorease (Carey)

Lorease Carey Priesmeyer, 78, of Eagle Lake, a fifth-generation Colorado county native, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1993 in Eagle Lake.
Born Dec. 31, 1914 in Eagle Lake, she was the daughter of Henry Earl, Jr. and Hettie (Von Lengerke) Carey. She was a graduate of Eagle Lake High School and the University of Texas, Austin and in 1940-41, taught third grade in Eagle Lake. She was active in the Eagle Lake Little Theater, and after moving to Austin in 1946, she was a member of the American Association of University Women, serving as a board member and treasurer for several years. Later, she was instrumental in extending library services to rural Travis County by purchasing a bookmobile. Through her organizations, Mrs. Priesmeyer also was active in sponsoring children's plays. She was also a member of Women's Symphony League of Austin; the Laguna Gloria Museum Patron member; and Austin Civic Theater. She and her husband returned to Eagle Lake in 1983, and she was active in Eagle Lake Study club.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 30 at the Chapel Dulany Funeral Home, Eagle Lake, with Rev. Charles Miller of Houston and Dr. Richard H. Miller, Pastor, First Presbyterian Church of Eagle Lake officiating. Interment followed in Weimar Masonic Cemetery, Weimar. Arrangements were under the direction of Dulany Funeral Home, Eagle Lake.
Mrs. Priesmeyer is survived by her husband of Eagle Lake; sister-in-law Mrs. Alice Byrd of Sweeny; brothers-in-law Frederick B. Priesmeyer and wife, Madeline and William X. Priesmeyer, all of Garwood; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.
