Margaretha Soukup, the daughter of Georg and Maria (Lehanka) Soukup was born 1 Aug 1852 in Hoslau, house no.2, Bohemia [which is now Hvozdany,Domazlice,Plzen,Czech Republic]. She came to America with her mother Maria and sister Barbara on June 26, 1871. Her older brother Wenzel and younger brother Andreas had already made the journey the year previous to her arrival. Georg, her father, and brother Johann stayed in Bohemia as Georg was not well enough to make the long journey.
Margaretha was reunited with her sweetheart from Hoslau in Verdigre, Nebraska and they married December 14, 1876. To this union was born 8 children: Annie, Mary, Joseph W., Andrew, Barbara, Elizabeth, Rose, and John E. They settled just south of mother Maria's homestead.
Margareta died April 4, 1900 in Walnut,NE at the young age of 48. She is mourned by her mother Maria Sukup; children, Annie Vogt, Mary Vogt, Joseph, Andrew, Barbara Zimmerer, Elizabeth Westerman, Rose Wagner, and John; brothers Wenzel, Johann, and Andrew. And sister Barbara (Sukup) Raubach.
