Pioneer Of County Is Dead At 82
A pioneer of Wapello County, Addison Rupe, 82, died Sunday at 4:45 PM at his home, Ottumwa, route 6. Mr. Rupe was born here and lived in Wapello County all of his life. He was the son of Lewis and Mary Rupe was born in Wapello County January 26, 1853.
Surviving are six sons, Frederick, Jesse K, Ray, Ernest, and Emerson, all of Ottumwa, route 6, and Roy Rupe of Eldon, route 1; one daughter, Mrs. Steve Wilkins of Mankato, Kansas; 23 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elmira and one daughter, Mrs. Frank Hancock.
Short services will be held at the Johnson funeral Chapel Wednesday at 9:30 AM and at Miller Chapel at 10 AM, conduct by the Rev. A. D. McClure. Burial be made in the Mars Hill cemetery.
