Charles Everett Linville, Sr., was born March 21, 1898, near Skidmore in Nodaway County, son of Aaron and Mary Diss Linville. He spent his early years on the farm, later attending Maryville Business College in Maryville, MO, in 1911-1912. He started working at the Bank of Skidmore, owned by his grandfather, W.R. Linville in 1912. He worked his way up through the positions in the bank and served as President until he sold the bank and retired in 1968.
In 1917, he married Hazel N. Hart and they were parents of one son, C.E. Linville, Jr. Everett was an active member of his community and the banking industry. He owned a farm for many years and actively supported the farmers through the bank. He was instrumental in helping many of the farmers acquire land and establish their business through his faith in their ability.
He was in the Army in World War I. He has been a member of the American Legion and Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He belongs to the Skidmore Methodist Church. He is still a member of the board of the American Bank of Skidmore, which celebrated its 75th Anniversary in 1979.
