Funeral services of August C. Arch, who passed away at his home in River Forest on Thanksgiving morning, were conducted from the late residence, 121 Ashland, by the Rev. Mr. Warnecke, a neighbor and friend of the deceased, and Masonic services were conducted at the cemetery by Fort Dearborn lodge of Chicago, assisted by members of La Fayette chapter.
Mr. Arch was born in Saxony, Germany, seventy-two years ago, and at the age of five years came with his parents to Cambria, Wis., where he remained until he was 27 years of age, when he came to Chicago, shortly after the great fire. He soon became connected with the Chicago Police department as a patrolman, and was promoted until he was lieutenant at the Harrison street station. At the time of his retirement, which occurred nine years ago, he moved to River Forest, where he had since resided.
He is survived by his wife and three children, Henry Arch of 115 Franklin, Mrs. W. J. Von der Lehr of 305 Lathrop, and Mrs. Albert Drews of 111 North Oak Park avenue. He is also survived but a brother, 2 sisters and 8 grandchildren.
