mallie w. (winn?) davis (franklin, litteral)
was born in carter county, kentucky
to myrtilla winn and capt. elias p. davis,
the county's first postmaster
and perennial clerk of county courts.

at age 14 (!!!!) she was married
to john franklin in 1857.
soon they had a daughter, lillian.
the marriage didnt last.
franklin is believed to have been
a rebel and a 'villain' in the war,
while elias and his family
were staunch union folks.
mallie and lillian were at elias' home
in the 1860 census
without john franklin.

after the war,
mallie married capt. harrison 'harry' litteral,
her father's close ally and fellow home guardsman.
they had four children.

note:
WE'RE NOT SURE SHE'S AT FOREST HILLS.
her cryptic death certificate doesnt list burial,
only a chattanooga undertaker,
her 2 daughters are here,
and its either here or in grayson, carter, ky
where her husband was buried.
and as she's also not on old usgenweb
interred listings for carter, we're STRONGLY leaning towards her being here...
