Burial Rites For John Bell
Funeral services for John Bell, 86, were held Friday afternoon from the Hastings-Pearson chapel, conducted by Rev. Warren Porter. Mr. Bell died at the home of his brother, Oliver, in Hastings, Nebraska, December 14.
Musicians were Mrs. Orin Kellison and Orel Koelling.
Concluding services were held in the Ord City Cemetery. Bearers were Archie Mason (Archie was John's wife's sister's son), John Mason, George Bell, Harry Foth, Ross Leonard and Jack Hayes.
Mr. Bell was born March 30, 1869 in Monmouth, Ill., to John and Jane Bell.
He lived in Valley county for 70 years, the later years being in the home of Mr. and Mrs. O.E. Hackett. More recently he went to Hastings where he made his home with his brother.
He was married to Nora Hayes in Mira Valley, June 27, 1894. While the family lived in Mira Valley, they attended the United Brethren church.
His two sons, daughter, wife, five brothers and five sisters have died. Survivors are his brother, Oliver, four grandchildren and nephews and nieces.
