Born April 21, 1890, at Rockport, he was a son of the late Madison and Mariah Young Dent. He was a former employee of the Parkersburg Rig & Reel Co.
He was a member of the Limestone Hill Methodist Church and the JOUAM, Council No. 106, and was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his wife Mr. Della Karr Dent; a son Robert Dent, Rockport; a daughter Mrs. Juanita States, Belleville, stepdaughter Mrs. Carolyn Bridges, DeLand, Fla; stepson, Kenneth G. Anderson, Rockport.
Also surviving are two brothers Clyde Dent, Akron, and Cecil Dent, Parkersburg; five sisters, Mrs. Bertie Moore, Belpre, Mrs. Norma Florence, Rockport, Mrs. Lula Moore, Mrs. Eva Hendershot and Mrs. Hazel Matheny, all of Parkersburg.
Mr. Dent was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie Beard Dent, a brother and three sisters.
