James V. Corson, 79, of Kingston, Ill., died Monday, May 20, 2002, at Northwoods Care Center in Belvidere after a lengthy illness.
Born Sept. 18, 1922, in Genoa, he was the son of Dr. John D. and Velma (Crawford) Corson. He married Marie Conro on Feb. 18, 1944, in Genoa.
James was a 1940 graduate of Genoa High School. He worked for Deans Milk for 36 years. After his retirement, he worked for Health & Corson Septic & Sewers Systems for three years.
He was a member of the Eagles Club in DeKalb for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Marie of Kingston; a son, Michael (Christine) Corson of Kingston; two daughters, Donna (John) Eveans of Bloomington and Sally (Steven) Dorneden of Egg Harbor, Wis.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Eunice) Corson of Kingston and Paul "Pete" (Charlene) Corson of Guthrie, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Velma Chapman; two sisters, Barbara Nelson and Ellen Thompson; and two brothers, Charles and Thomas George Corson.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, at Slater-Butala Funeral Home of Genoa. Burial will be at Kingston Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at the funeral home.
