Margaret Lucinda Grims or perhaps Greins was born September 6, 1826 in Georgia. In 1841 Lucinda married Jackson B. Acker in Shelby, Alabama. She and Jackson moved to the Springhill Community in Pickens County, Alabama before 1850. She bore and raised four children: Martha in 1844, Christopher Columbus in 1846, Margaret Annie in 1850, and Safronia Josephine "Joe" Acker in 1855.

Her husband Jackson passed away in 1873 and her daughter Martha in 1877. In the 1880s she lived with her daughter Josephine and her husband Joseph Bryan in Gonzales, Texas. After her son-in-law's death in 1888 she moved with her daughter Josephine back to Pickens County, Alabama. In 1895 Josephine died unexpectedly and Lucinda was taken to Mississippi to live with her other daughter Margaret "Annie" Acker Gates and family.

She passed away in 1910 two months after the death of her son Christopher Columbus and is buried in her home community cemetery in Archer, Spring Hill Community Alabama with her husband, son, and daughters Martha and Josephine.
