Flora Isabel South was born March 10, 1875, Sunrise, Minnesota, to Sylvester Smith South and Cornelia Elizabeth Reed.

On April 11, 1895, she married Harrison Washington Englesby. Four children were born to them while they lived in Minnesota, Ruby Roxanna, Harrison Sylvester, Guy Franklin and Mae Cornelia.

The family made their way to the Shannonview area of Saskatchewan, Canada, before 1905, making their permanent home there.

Four more children were added to their family: Earl Winifield, Philo Joseph, George Curtis and Florabell Naomi.

There were trying times ahead for the family, for sure, life was tough.

Grandma was very active in her life, raising a family, taking care of her home, and growing in the gospel. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as active as distance and no Church around would grant her to be. Grandma was reading the Western Producer one day and noticed an ad relating to the missionaries - she sent off a letter, and the rest is history. The Elders came to the bush country where she lived and proceeded to teach the Gospel to half the country-side that she had had contact with. Grandma had been baptized while living in the United States, but was rebaptized in 1927. President Heber J. Grant later sent her a book entitled "Prince of Peace" and a personal greeting written on Church letterhead.

Her legacy is great - 40+ direct descendants have and are now serving missions for the Church.

Grandma lived in the St. Brieux, Shannonview area until the early 1950s when she moved out to British Columbia, and lived there until her passing in 1957.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband in 1931, and an infant son in 1898.

Left to mourn her passing, children: Ruby [Earl MacDonald] (1986); Guy (1965); Mae [John Prete] (1965); Earl [Maria Elgers] (1977); Florabell [Mike Stasiuk] 1979; Philo [Karoline Linglebach] (1980) and George Curtis [Blanche Moorman] (2008); Grandchildren: Herbert, Donald, William and Alice MacDonald; Isabel, Earl, John, Gordon, Doris, Norman, Lyle, Elsie, Phyllis, Ruby, Donna and Betty Prete; Bud and Ralph Englesby; Josephine, Beverly and Dolly Englesby; Michael and Marlene Stasiuk, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Grandma, we owe you so much. You were and still are a great strength.
