He was born on October 23, 1960, in Kenmare, ND, the son of Adam and Mavis (Joachim) Dockter. He grew up and attended school in Kenmare, graduating from Kenmare High School in 1979. In 1983, he married Stephanie Helmers in Kenmare, the couple moved to Littleton, CO, in 1989, and to Dacono in 1994. Kortney worked at White Wave Foods in Boulder, CO, as a plant manager.
He loved riding his Harley and dirt bikes with his son, Dana. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and spending time with his golden retrievers, Sampson, Jasmine, Blondie, Red, Sturgis, and Dakota.
Survivors: mother, Mavis Dockter, Kenmare; wife, Stephanie, Dacono; his son and daughter, Dana and Shantelle Dockter, Dacono; brother, Duane Dockter (Laurie), Kenmare; sisters, Karen Thompson (Craig), Wilton, ND, Shirley Beuchler (Tom), Bellevue, MI, Brenda Gust (Joe), Elk River, MN, Shelly Ness (Roger), Kenmare, and Julie Andres (George), Maplewood, MN; numerous nieces and nephews and three great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Adam "Doc" Dockter who died on January 3, 2004.
Funeral Service: Saturday, September 24, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare.
Visitation: Friday, September 23, 2005, from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare.
Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND.
