Tractor Accident Causes Death of Newark Man

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Newark Church of Clifford H. Baines, 52 year old well known resident of the Newark community. Rev. Clifford Winters officiated and burial was near Newark, with Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Baines passed away at 4:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Freeman-Greene County Hospital in Linton as the result of injuries suffered in a tractor accident on June 7.

Mr. Baines was operating a tractor at his home near Newark when it overturned, pinning him beneath it and inflicting critical spinal injuries.

The son of John E and Fannie Clayton Baines, he was born August 11, 1900 at Cleveland, Indiana. He was employed as a mechanic with the B. B. & I. Motor Freight Line. He was a member of the First Christian Church.

Surviving him are the wife, Mrs. Dollie Baines; his father, John E. Baines of Beech Grove; three sons, Earl, Richard and David Baines at home; five daughters, Verda and Janice Baines at home; Mrs. Phyllis Doane of Newark; Mrs. Irene Correll of Bloomfield, and Mrs. Doris Helderman of Akron, Ohio. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Gladys Kestra of Indianapolis, and four brothers, Donald, Ralph, Walter and John E. Jr., of Indianapolis.
