Randy was the son of Adelaide Candler Tucker and Stanley Randolph Tucker, Sr.

Raised in Jacksonville, Florida, he loved spending time on the beach and was an avid surfer. He was inducted into the Jacksonville Surfers Hall of Fame and was the first East Coast surfer to be featured in Surfer Magazine.

Randy was drafted into the Army and ordered to report on Christmas Day to leave for Vietnam. He thought that was not so good, so he went AWOL. Then sold his possessions and gave the money to his mother and reported to serve the country he loved.

Leaving the service, he became an educator. He began teaching and coaching at The Bolles School and became the Associate Headmaster. He received his B.A. degree in History and Phychology from Jacksonville University. Going on to pursue his Master's of Education and Administration at the University of North Florida, he met his future wife, Terri Bachara. They quickly became a couple and were nearly inseperable for the rest of their days together.

Randy was the retired headmaster of the Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga. Over the course of his 26 year tenure at GPS that began in 1987 and ended in 2013, he was known as an innovator, a teacher's teacher, and as a leader and advocate for girls' education.

After his retirement from GPS, Randy took on the interim Headmaster position of The Battle Ground Adademy in Franklin, Tennessee.

Randy was a leader at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Chattanooga, TN, where a funeral service was held. There was also a memorial service in The McGehee Auditorium of the San Jose Campus of The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida.

Randy will be sadly missed by hoards of students and former students of GPS. Also by his wife Terri Bachara Tucker, son Stanley Randolph "Trey" Tucker, III, and daughter Taylor Elaine Tucker. His sister, Nancy Blaney and Barbara Kroeplin, his mother-in-law Donna Bachara, sister and brothers-in-law Christi Bachara Petrie, Chip and Mark Bachara besides a host of neices and nephews are also left to miss him.
