Wilbert Eugene (Gene) Harmon, age 76, of Mansfield, died Friday, April 18, 2014 at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield after a sudden illness.

Eugene was born October 15, 1937 in Orrville, OH, the fifth child of the late Forest and Inez Harmon of Mansfield.

He worked as a Baker for over 60 years. Working for Fazio's, and then owning his own Bakery, "Gene's Bakery" on Marion Ave. in Mansfield, OH for 18 years. He finally retired and then came out of retirement and worked for Hawkins Market in Ashland, OH for a little over 13 years.

He was a member of Open Bible Church in Mansfield, OH for over 50 years and a member of the Baker's local union. One of Eugene's love was baking, he also enjoyed all sports, tending to his yard, and being involved in his children and grandchildren's lives.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Forest and Inez Harmon of Mansfield; his loving wife of 48 years, Dolores Ann (Rabquer) Harmon of Mansfield; son, Steven Eugene Harmon of Mansfield; brother, Raymond Harmon of Mansfield; sister, Bernice (Harmon) Grant of Tennessee; sister, Carl and Iona (Harmon) Fannin of Newark; and sister Helen Harmon of Mansfield.

Shannon Shaw, Sandy Hershner with OhioHealth MedCentral, Carolyn Hamilton, Karen Batts, Sundy Stone of Hawkins Market in Ashland, the Springfield Township Fire Department, and the Ontario Police. Friends and family are welcome on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Ontario.

The funeral was held on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 where funeral services were conducted by Dr. John D. Freeman and honorary speaker, Don Irvin.

Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
