Alma A. Hallen, a native of Sweden who had lived in north-central Idaho since 1921, died at 4:05 p.m. Sunday at Orchards Nursing home of complications of a stroke.

A patient at the nursing home for the past four years, she lived at Ferdinand from 1921 to 1948 with her husband, Charles, a Camas Prairie Railroad section foreman. He was killed in an accident on Oct. 12, 1948. She moved to Lewiston then.

An active member of banana Belt Senior Citizens at Lewiston and earlier in American Red Cross and community affairs at Ferdinand.

Mrs. Hallen was born July 8, 1885, in Stockholm, Sweden to Mr. and Mrs. Peterson.

She attended Stockholm schools before moving to Warren, Mich., in 1902. She lived there until 1907when she moved to Puyallup, Wash., near Tacoma.

She married Charles H. Hallen at Warren Dec. 2, 1905.

Mrs. Hallen is survived by two sons, C. William Hallen of Lewiston and Ernest Hallen of Tacoma; four daughters, Grace E. Wilkins, V. Jean Ray, both of Lewison; Margaret nelson of Tacoma and Dora Stocker of Yuma, Ariz., 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

One son, Norman, died in 1936.
