William McGregor, "The Old Scot Preacher", was born in Scotland ca. 1734 and died ca. 1804 on his homestead which was then part of Montgomery County, North Carolina. McGregor's grave is in the woods in present day Morrow Mountain State Park, Stanly County, NC. The McGregor homestead was sold in 1834 to Dr. Francis Kron, well known physician. The reconstructed "Kron House" is near the site of the grave.

There is some debate as to the actual date of Rev. McGregor's death.William McGregor was born in Scotland, and emigrated to the United States later in life. He became a Baptist preacher and worked for the rest of his life in that profession. Late in his life, he moved to Stanly Co. NC, and resided in a location that later became Morrow Mt. State Park. His grave is located on a trail that starts on the northeast end of the Kron Cabin and winds up a hill for about 200 yards. A ranger may well take you up the trail on request.
