Carl Altaha 91, Born at R-14 Ranch, Cedar Creek, Arizona on February 18, 1923. Entered Eternal Rest on April 8, 2014 Mesa Arizona.

Carl was the last survivor of his siblings Roy Altaha, Rufus Altaha, Robert Altaha, Allen Altaha, Alice Altaha-Walker, Enid Altaha, Clara Altaha, Coe Altaha Fred Altaha, Bertha Altaha-Cosen, Simmons Altaha, and Hupp Altaha.

Carl is survived by his Daughters: Pauline Altaha, Geneva Altaha-Maria, Cecilia Lavender, and Melinda Altaha, 11 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren. Also many nieces, nephew, friends and relatives.

Carl Altaha preceded in death by his son Carlos Joe Altaha

Carl grew up in Cedar Creek Arizona, Carl is a patriarch for the Altaha family and the White Mountain Apache Tribe.

As a young boy Carl attended Fort Apache Boarding School and also attended Phoenix Indian Boarding School.

Carl enlisted in the Army and served two tours in US World War II. He served in the Marines as Private First Class and was station at Camp JH Pendleton, Oceanside Calif. Carl was also in the Army Reserve.

In his Military service Carl traveled the world crossing the ocean seeing the Middle East, Norway, Finland, Czechoslovakia,Germany and many more places. He was fluent in Apache and spoke English and some German. Carl shared that he was present at the Raising of the Flag in Iwo Jima.

He will be brought back to his home at Yucca Flats in Whiteriver, Arizona. For a one night wake on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 10:00 am.

With the Funeral Service at his home on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 10:00 am.

Officiated by Pastor June Bush. Burial at Mourning Dove Cemetery in Cedar Creek, Arizona.
