Death of an Old Resident
Died, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Nat. Wallace, near Shreve, Ky., Feb. 1, 1892, Mrs. Mary M. Loyd. Deceased was born in Rockingham county, N.C., May 24, 1798, hence was 93 years, eight months and seven days old. September 4, 1918 she was married to Wm. Loyd, and in 1833 moved to Kentucky, locating near the Falls of Rough. Of this union there were ten children, five of whom survive her: Mrs. Eliza Wallace, Breckenridge county; Marion Loyd, Missouri; Thos. H. Loyd, Fordsville; Mrs. Sarah P. Barrett and John G. Loyd, Barret's Ferry. She leaves 23 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren and 5 great,great grandchildren. She joined the M.E. Church almost 60 years ago. Her remains were interred in the graveyard on the farm of her son-in-law, Mr. Nat Wallace on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1892, in the presence of a large concourse of relatives and friends.
