I never heard where the name 'Monte' came from. I don't recall ever seeing another 'Monte', 'Monty' or 'Montgomery' anywhere in any branch of the Veal genealogy. His
name seemed to be as unique as he was.
Monte was born in Corpus Christi, Tx. My first memories of him were from the years, when our father, his 2nd wife (my mother) and our 2 sisters were living on the southside of Ft. Worth, Tx. at 2824 South Adams St between Elizabeth Blvd to our north and Lowden just to our south.
Monte was a little more than 5 years than I, So, when I started 1st grade at E. M. Daggett Elementary, he was in the fifth grade there.

Monte's birth index shows his father's name as "Houston Lee Lewis Veal". The 'Lewis' spelling, instead of 'Louis' is confirmed by his father's modified birth certificate of Sep. 12, 1942.
