BENTON - Albert Gulley, 86, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Stonebridge Senior Living Center. Albert was born in Christopher, March 19, 1928, to O.K. Gulley and Ida Mae (Armstrong) Gulley. He married Helen (Pharis) Gulley in 1950 and she survives in Benton. Albert worked as a school teacher, guidance counselor, principal and Superintendent of Benton Consolidated High School. He attended the Benton-West City Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army serving in Korean War He was part of the American Legion and the National and Illinois Retired Teacher Association. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son. Alan Gulley; two sisters, Ova Downen and Flosie Wilson; and three brothers Oscar, Denver and Virgil Gulley. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday April 9 in Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, with Brother Steve Reeves officiating. Internment will be in Hammond Cemetery in Buckner.
