Samuel and his family moved from Perry County, Pennsylvania about 1824 to Lockport, Niagara, New York, from there they moved west to Seneca County, Ohio in the mid 1830s. In the mid 1850s he followed his son Benjamin to Olmsted County, Minnesota.
His body was moved to Oak Grove Cemetery from Ben Bear Cemetery.

~~ Samuel Bear Jr. was born on 11 February 1783 in Pennsylvania. His parents were Samuel Baer Sr (1751 PA - 1785 Lancaster Co, PA) and Christina Krauss (1756 PA - 1787 Lancaster Co, PA). He married Mary Brickley about 1807, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. They were the parents of fifteen children. Mary was born in 1785 in Berks Co, PA and died in 1848 in Seneca Co, Ohio, the daughter of Peter Brickley #29617197 and Barbara Lehman (1750 PA - 1818). Samuel lived in Loudon Township, Seneca County, Ohio in 1850 and Eyota, Olmsted County, Minnesota in 1865. He registered for military service in 1814. He died on 25 March 1868, in Eyota Township, Olmsted County, Minnesota, at the age of 85, and was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Eyota, Olmsted County, Minnesota.
