CHARIVARI. - Tuesday night Mr. Nathan Beldon, a widower of 51, and Mrs. Matilda Carter, 46, were married at Rowland by Rev. G. C. Smith. That night they were treated to a charivari, the like of which was never heard in this section. Every conceivable noise producing and nerve destroying article was brought into requisition and for hours night was made hideous, not only to the couple, but to the rest of the town besides. An effort was made to get the groom out and put him under a wide open hydrant proved abortive as he would not show his face. The only excuse for tormenting him is that he has 10 grown children as if that was a crime.
