Large Crowd Attends Funeral Of Sumpter Bowen Last Friday
A large throng of grieved relatives and friends gathered in a last sad tribute of respect to the memory of a loved one and friend at the funeral held last Friday afternoon for Mr. Sumpter R. Bowen at his residence two miles east of Fulton. Rev. Allen, pastor of the Church of Christ at Hamilton and also at Fulton, conducted the services, interment of the remains following in the Fulton Cemetery.
Mr. Bowen, age 54 years, was the son of the late Richard Bowen of the Clay community, and had suffered for several years from rheumatis or a bone disease, which caused his death on last Thursday night.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Ellie Moore Bowen, and two sons, Albert Sidney and Richard Bowen, who have the deepest sympathy of a host of friends.
The decesased was before coming afflicted an active and energetic citizen, standing for what he conscientiously believed to be for the best interests of his community. His passing is deeply felt by many and he will be missed from the walks of life.
