Melvin W. Ackerman , 91, of 5 Flicksville Road, Bangor, died Saturday in St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Helen A. (Beegle) Ackerman .

He worked for the former Julius Kayser Co. and the former Bangor Mills and Country Miss Inc., Forks Township, before retiring in 1959.

Born in Bangor, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Ackerman .

He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Bangor, and a former Sunday school superintendent there.

Ackerman served in France during World War I.

He was president of the Ackerman family reunion for many years.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Miriam Sandercock of Bangor and Mrs. Eunice Keat of Saylorsburg; a son, William J. of Washington, N.J.; a sister, Mrs. Ada Raines of Pen Argyl; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Hough Home for Funerals, 207 Market St., Bangor. Calling hour will be 7-9 p.m. Monday.
