Mildred "Jannie "Whitlock of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed on to her heavenly home on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Raleigh Masonic Cemetery. Local arrangements are in the charge of Colonial Terrace Funeral Home, Eldorado.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Robinson Chapel, Union Chapel at Tonkel Road, Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was born in Southern Illinois. Jake and she raised their children in Swayzee, Ind. She was a homemaker until her oldest started college, where she finished first in her class. She went on for a master's degree in English to teach at Marion High School. After a near-fatal car crash in 1976, she was the caretaker for her husband, James L.
"Jake" Whitlock, who passed away in 2001. Mildred was a wonderful wife, mother and friend.
She is survived by three children, James Michael (Diane) Whitlock, Jan (John) Tindal and Gordon (Sara) Whitlock; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Swayzee Public Library, Swayzee, Ind., or Robinson Chapel United Methodist Church.
