Billy Frank Bickerstaff was the oldest son of Herod B. Bickerstaff and Gertrude Mae Burks. He was raised on the Bickerstaff farm a mile west of Bullard. He attended the Bullard schools, graduating from Bullard High School. He attended Tyler Junior College.
Bill was first united in marriage to Mina Clark in 1954. To this union were born one son, Billy Mark, and one daughter, Mina Gayle.
His second marriage, a union of 53 years, was to Ann Kirksey. To this union were born two daughters, Billie Annette, and Tamatha Kay, and one son, John Frank. Bill adopted Ann's son, Michael Charles; completing this family union.
After marrying Ann, they settled in Slocum, Texas, and raised their family. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church Slocum. He retired from United Telephone as a cable splicer. In his leisure time, Bill enjoyed officiating basketball and baseball.

Billy F. Bickerstaff, 79, of Slocum, went home to meet his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in Palestine, Texas.
He was born July 8, 1934, in Bullard, Texas to Herod and Gertrude Burk Bickerstaff.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Bickerstaff; sister, Shirley Bickerstaff; and son, Mike Bickerstaff.
Bill was a member of First Baptist Church of Slocum. He retired from United Telephone as a cable splicer. His leisure time was spent as a basketball referee and a baseball umpire.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Slocum with the Rev. Randall Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in Strong Cemetery in Slocum under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home
