Stanley Wayne LaBauve
June 8, 1945 - March 27, 2014

After a two year valiant fight against throat cancer, on March 27, 2014 Stanley Wayne LaBauve, 68, of Bastrop Texas passed away peacefully at home with his loving daughter, Amber Wilson by his side. Stanley was born on June 8th, 1945 in Elgin, Texas to his parents Marjorie Speer Sutton and Elton LaBauve.

Stanley was a 1963 graduate of Elgin High School and in June of 1964 he went to work for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDot) as a Statistician working on the load-o- meter crew in the Traffic Division. He worked there for nine years before he got a strong urge to serve his country. In August of 1973, Stanley joined the United States Marine Corps and headed for California. He was the oldest recruit in his boot camp unit, therefore the younger recruits affectionally dubbed him with the nickname of "Pappy".

Stanley honorably and actively served the Marine Corps until 1984 before he left active service, joined the Marine Reserves, and then went to work for Hughes Aircraft Microelectronics Division as a Senior Quality Assurance Inspector, where he was responsible for final acceptance of products being sold to the United States military. In 1987, Stanley was promoted to Reliability Engineer and was responsible for the Failure Reporting/Correction Action System and chaired the Failure Review Board.

In May of 1991, Stanley returned to Texas and rejoined many of his co-workers at TxDot. Over the years with TxDot, Stanley saw and worked with many significant advancements in the development of traffic collection equipment. On May 31, 2009, Stanley retired from the TxDot with 26 years of service to the State of Texas. Stanley was a proud member of the American Legion of Bastrop, a member of the Bastrop County Honor Guard and was the founder of the Marine Corps League: Lost Pines Leathernecks, Det. 1384 of Bastrop, Texas.

Stanley was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Sutton and stepfather Virgle Sutton of Elgin, Texas and his dad Elton LaBauve of New Iberia Louisiana.

He is survived by his loving daughter; Amber Wilson and husband Ernie of Bastrop Texas; grandson, Hunter LaBauve; granddaughter, Kirsten Wilson of Bastrop Texas; step granddaughters, Angel Wilson of Bastrop and Courtney Wilson. He is also survived by his three siblings, Caron Edge and husband Jimmy of Elgin, Jan Davenport and husband Dwight of Washington North Carolina, Johnny Sutton and wife Marchelle of Elgin Texas, special family friend Joy Schiller of Elgin, Texas and Marine Brother Fred Becerra of Fort Wayne Indiana. He will be missed by many other relatives and friends.

Stanley loved life, his family, the American Legion and most of all he loved the Marines. Semper Fi Soldier, Semper Fi!
