Norma A. Carpio Survived by her husband of 58 years, Gene Carpio; children, Rich Carpio and Debby (Joe) Marez; grandchildren, Tony (Hilary) Serracino of Houston, Texas, Nick (Elizabeth) Serracino and Katy Carpio of Pueblo; great-grandson, Neo Serracino; brothers, Robert James of Pueblo and Dale James of Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Norma was born Sept. 25, 1937, in Pueblo, to Mary Rachel (Shipley) and Lorren E. James. She graduated from Central High School in 1955 and married Gene Carpio on Nov. 12, 1955. In addition to being a stay-at-home mom for many years, Norma was a Girl Scout co-leader and Boy Scout den mother. In 1980, she went to work for the Colorado State Fair accounting department, until her retirement in 1989. She was the organist, pianist, choir member and bell ringer at Bruner Park E.U.B. /Faith United Methodist and First Presbyterian churches. Norma enjoyed folk art painting, cross-stitching, anything "craftsy," sewing, golf and supporting her children and grandchildren in whatever they did. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Family and friends are invited to a reception at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in the Woodbridge Room, 220 W. 10th St. Memorial service, 3 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel.
